Polarity Therapy
Polarity is an integrated health system that combines western anatomical sciences with the eastern elemental and energetic medicines. It focuses on the vital energy expressed in chakras and the five elemental principles of our being as we come into form; Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Assessment and treatment of these vital patterns supports subtle energetic balancing, improved nervous system function and provides relief from physical pain and dysfunction for a broad variety of conditions.

I like to describe polarity as working with windows, to open the space for locked doors to ease.
“[Dr. Stone] taught what is today being called the new paradigm, the ‘New Physics.’ He taught that the human flesh we identify as our bodies is not, in fact, a solid thing but a system of coordinated energy patterns that are generally in movement.”
— Robert K. Hall
A Polarity session may include bodywork, nutritional counselling, polarity yoga and therapeutic listening. This approach seeks to treat not only the symptoms, but also the cause of a complaint or dysfunction. Polarity teaches that adjustment and resolution of physical dysfunction allow for the release of mental and emotional stress patterns and the flourishing of our inherent health. This is expressed in the saying “As in the body, so in the emotions, the mind and the spirit.”
For me, the great gift of Polarity is its gentle effectiveness. Instead of using strong, deep pressure or cathartic breath work, Polarity uses reflex points and structures related to each other embryologically, kinesthetically and through the sacred geometries of matter to provide the movement or relief desired. I like to describe Polarity to clients as working with windows to open the space for locked doors to ease. This makes Polarity therapy beneficial for those with chronic or acute health issues, whether physical, mental or emotional.
Polarity provided my first introduction to Craniosacral work, birthing patterns, and to philosophies that explore how we come from intention into form. The diversity of Polarity instructors continue to grow and inform the work through such areas as field theory, the polyvagal nervous system and links to shamanism and ayurveda.
Most importantly, Polarity teaches advanced skills that allow practitioners to become sensitive to the subtle sensations and cues from a client’s system. It fosters a healing relationship based on practitioner neutrality, presence and compassion to supports your journey to self-awareness and health.
